Serenity

Let the peace of a summer night
ascend burdens from the day.
Let the body rest in the woodland
and witness lively affairs:
the relays of ants race from trees
to underground tunnels with nurseries,
the golden hornets fly and hunt
for prey in the tangle of green rays,
the sparkling grace of hummingbirds
chase salty mosquitoes;
in all maneuvers—let rhythms
move the spirit as wind lifts the air.
